LGT Christmas Party - 6 December

We had a great Christmas Party with 23 lovely women coming along to share conversation, laughter and delicious food.   To continue on with the tradition of paper folding that started with paper aeroplanes at last year's Christmas celebration, there was also the opportunity to make an origami paper crane.

As we have almost reached then end of another year, I thought this would be a good time to give you some interesting history on Lesbians' Got Talent.

LGT, as we fondly call it, was the brainchild of Anne McKenzie, who as many of you in our community would know, has a busy mind that is always coming up with new ideas to build a sense of community while also having fun.

The original idea was for lesbians to share their talents and skills in a supportive and relaxed environment and participants to leave with something new to think about and information on how they could further develop or continue the new skill/talent.

The first Lesbians Got Talent session was held on 2 June 2015.  The topic was Keeping Chickens and was presented by trailblazer Leta with an attendance of 8 interested women.

Since that first session 18 months ago we have had a total of 53 different talents/skills/topics presented by 44 different women (some have presented multiple times), to an audience of 494.  We now have 91 lesbians on the email distribution.

Our last practical session for 2016 was also presented by Leta and was home baked bread made in Leta's home, with 14 in attendance.

Needless, to say, Lesbians' Got Talent was a great idea.  Thank you Anne for your enthusiasm for building community and your powers of managing to get so many wonderful women onboard willing to share their talents.  Thank you to our brilliant presenters with such a variety of diverse and interesting talents.  Thank you also to our fabulous audience/participants for coming along to the LGT sessions.

LGT will be starting again in February 2017.  If you have a particular talent/skill/story you are willing to share, or if there is something you would like know more about, please contact Pamela at pamela.lemonzest@gmail.com.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New year.

Look forward to seeing you all soon.
